Prayer Shawls
HISTORY AND MISSION

A proud member of Akashic Record Consultants International

I became involved in St. Andrew Catholic Church Prayer Shawl Ministry the fall of 2008.
It received it’s inspiration from the National Prayer Shawl Ministry.
The national ministry is a non-denominational, worldwide ecumenical ministry that brings people of similar interests together to share in fellowship and community.
As volunteers, we use own time and talents to produce prayer shawls
which are then given to those in need to provide them with comfort and prayer.
These handmade shawls show their recipients that they are not alone,
and that they are embraced by our community and God’s love.

In 1998, Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo, two graduates of the 1997
Women’s Leadership Institute at the Hartford Seminary in Hartford, Conn.,
gave birth to a ministry as a result of their experience in this program.
Compassion and the love of knitting and crocheting were combined
into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace, as well as in celebration and joy.
Many blessings are prayed into every shawl.
